Rubik’s Cube and Its Variants

«Rubik’s Cube» (originally known as «Magic cube», hung. Bűvös kocka) – mechanical puzzle, invented in 1974 by Hungarian sculptor and professor of architecture Erne Rubik.

This jigsaw is a plastic cube, made up of 26 smaller cubes that can rotate around the axes, invisible from the outside. Each of the nine squares on each side of the cube is painted in one of six colors and is usually located in the following pairs opposite each other: white-yellow, blue-green, red-orange. Turning the sides of the cube allows one to set the colored squares in many different ways. The task of the player is to put it in a state where every facet is made up of squares of one color.

In addition to the traditional 6-color cube 3 × 3 × 3, there are 2 × 2 × 2, 4 × 4 × 4 and 5 × 5 × 5 cubes, cubes with images on the sides; «hybrids» made up of several cubes, options with a tetrahedron and rounded angles. Pics of these weird cubes can be found inside the post.
